LAST MONTH’S MEETING: October 11: Member and former Master Gardener Sunday Hanson gave us everything, but the bacon and lettuce, needed to enjoy growing wonderful backyard tomatoes! Hostesses for the event were Margaret Bailey, Cricket Ayala, and Rose Ann Husser. We tried the 50/50 and White Elephant Sale so will decide this month if we are going to continue them.
Flower Show: Laissez Les Bonnes FLeurs Roulez Baton Rouge Garden Club 1-4 p.m at the Baton Rouge Garden Club Center - a nice invitation for a pleasant tour. This is a come and go event, so you can plan a dinner stop at any time.
DISTRICT FALL MEETINGS: October 25: Belle Oaks (almost all of the fourteen members) worked to decorate this annual event. Registration topped 70 at the lovely Holiday Inn facility across from Hammond Square Mall. Attended by two Gardenettes, Vicky Fannaly and Sunday Hanson, we were very visible if not out in force.
FLOWER DESIGN SCHOOL: November 6-8: Another good adventure! If you wanted to know the design principles, here’s your chance. You might not learn mechanics, but you will learn what the judges are looking for when they grade your exhibits. Held in Metairie at Johnny Bright Playground. INFORMATION
CAMELLIA FESTIVAL: November 10-11: Mizell’s Camellia Hill Nursery in Folsom is hosting an event and invited us! See their flyer.
