FIELD TRIPS
Celebrate National Honey Month
Ponchatoula Country Market
September 19, 2015
Pictured above are Karen Moran, Cheryl Kuhn, Liz Anderson, Libbie Barron, Margaret Bailey, Anna Poland, Peggy Austin, Jane O'Flynn and a very young Gardenette.
The Gardenettes from Ponchatoula enjoyed an outing to the “Celebrate National Honey Month” event at our Country Market on Sat. the 19th. They enjoyed tasting honey that bees produced from specific flowers all over the United States.
Club president Margaret Bailey said, "Facts were learned as we observed a live bee hive and watched a demonstration of the extraction of honey from the honey comb. Some of us reminisced as we chewed on the honey comb wax."
This field trip was special due to the fact that the President of the National Garden Club, Inc. has chosen Crown Bee/Bee Gap (Gardeners adding Pollinators) as a special project this year.

According to Kathy Bedenbaugh: "This was an outing after we went to take a photo op for Genesis At Brandon Funeral Home. There were seven of us who went. We went to Mandeville to the home of Mary Jane Becker who owns the home where the Seven Sisters Oak has lived for years. It is quite magnificent with its sprawling limbs that touch the ground."
