HALEY FACIANE WINS SCHOLARSHIP!
Gardenettes presented Haley Faciane, a Ponchatoula High School graduate of 2020, with a scholarship for her excellent achievements. She is currently enrolled at Louisiana State University in Agriculture. Haley Faciane was awarded a $500 scholarship by the Gardenettes Tuesday at the Corner Cafe, according to Anna Poland, chairman of the garden club scholarship committee.
The club raises money through raffles and bake sales. To qualify, the student must be a member of the Ponchatoula High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) and maintain a good grade average. Gardenettes are members of District VI, Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc. and the Deep South Region, National Garden Clubs Inc.
Faciane attended Ponchatoula High School, where she finished her senior year with a 3.5 GPA. She has been an active agriculture and FFA student since her freshman year. While a member of the Ponchatoula High FFA Chapter, Haley competed in the Prepared Public Speaking LDE, placing second, and the Land Evaluation CDE. She also represented Louisiana at National Convention in the National Chapter Award as a presenter for a Top 10 chapter two years in a row.
She served as her chapter’s reporter as a sophomore, and secretary in her junior and senior year. She also served as the Area IV Federation Reporter. Faciane is currently a freshman at Louisiana State University where she is majoring in crop science. She has also been awarded a scholarship from the Ponchatoula Strawberry Board this year, as well as the Lela scholarship.

The winner of the raffle for a metal garden bench donated by Gabriel’s Building Supply and a metal picture of a hibiscus, donated by Gardenette Susan Pizani was Debbie Henagan of Ponchatoula/Houston. Pictured is Selena Price, who drew the winning ticket. Thank you to everyone who purchased a raffle ticket benefiting the Gardenette Scholarship Fund. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student from PHS/FFA in May.
Thanks to everyone who bought tickets, sold tickets, and provided baked goods. We do have a qualified applicant for the scholarship, so we will award a $500 scholarship at awards day in May at PHS.

A raffle and bake sale was held during Antique Trade Days to make money for our scholarship fund. Beautiful weather though a bit chilly, but the Gardenettes were out in force with delicious cookies, fudge, muffins and raffle tickets!

Dustin Moticheck PHS 2018 Wins Scholarship!
Dustin Moticheck, Ponchatoula High School graduate 2018, received the Gardenette Scholarship award. The presentation was made May 16, by new president Sonya Avery and past president Anna Poland.
Gardenettes are members of District VI, Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc, Deep South Garden Clubs Inc., and National Garden Clubs Inc.
Moticheck was chosen for his work with the Future Farmer's Association club at PHS. He has been accepted to LSU this fall.
The garden club collected money throughout the year by selling baked goods and yard sale items. They also held several raffles.

Jessica Tallo was the lucky winner of the concrete bench and rabbit raffled by the Gardenettes during Antique Trade Days in Ponchatoula October 4. Proceeds from the bake sale and raffle went to fund the garden club scholarship fund for a Ponchatoula High School student.
Tallo's name was pulled by a young boy whose family was attending the Chamber of Commerce trade event. Gardenettes are members of District VI - Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc, and National Garden Clubs Inc.
