Held at the Holiday Inn across from Hammond Square Mall, there will be a great program on using your pretty flowers in your menus, shopping at the raffle tables and a choice of two lunch items. YEARBOOK LUNCHEON: Annual Yearbook Luncheon at Joe's Italian, Ponchatoula, July 21. Gardenettes received their program for the club year which begins in September. Enjoying fellowship were Marilyn Wright, Jamie LeBlanc, Susan LaBarre Pizani, Cricket Ayala, Margaret Varnado Bailey, Carol Borgstede McGough, Sheila Reno, and Vicky Fannaly.
GARDEN OF THE MONTH: Gardenettes presented Garden of the Month to Elaine Simoneaux, 40014 McPhaul Lane. Planting the sign were Mary Hirsch, Margaret Bailey, Sunday Hanson, Marilyn Wright, Vicky Fannaly, Jamie LeBlanc and Kathy Bruce. Elaine Simoneaux's home on 40014 McPhaul Lane received the Gardenette July Garden of the Month award for her colorful landscaping.
GENESIS: Presenting the Genesis Award for civic beautification were Gardenettes and volunteers from the Chamber of Commerce including Margaret Bailey, Kathy Bruce (yes, Kathy is there behind Margaret’s hat!), Mary Hirsch, Billie Jo Laird, Mayor Bob Zabbia, Marilyn Wright, Jamie LeBlanc, Sunday Hanson, Vicky Fannaly, Adeline Gaudin, Annie Gaudin, Margaret Joiner, Susan Migues, Shelbie Klipple. The Gardenettes awarded the July/August Genesis Award for attractive commercial landscaping to the Ponchatoula Information Center located at #10 W. Pine Street.
SUMMER BOARD: This annual meeting July 17-18 is held at the Embassy Suites in Baton Rouge. Mainly business meetings, but anyone is welcome to sit in to see how the Federation works. Summer Board chairman, Vicky Fannaly, with help from her friends, Kathy Bedenbaugh and Dottie Hebert both from River Ridge Garden Club.
TOURS: Many tours are planned through LGCF for us, their members. November 6-9 is the next one. Take the bus to Bellingrath Gardens, Nurseries in Simms AL, Antique Mall in Thelma AL. Plan ahead for SPRING 2024 - March 4-8/9 -PHILADELPHIA PA FLOWER SHOW - The Flower show is the nation’s largest and longest-running horticultural event and features stunning displays by the world’s premier floral and landscape designers. It is described as “the country’s oldest, largest and most prestigious celebration of flowers!”
