Gardenettes are members of District VI, Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc. (LGCF), Deep South Garden Clubs Inc. and National Garden Clubs Inc. Hostesses for the event included Fannaly, Mary Hirsch, Sunday Hanson, and Sherry Klein. Marilyn Wright said the opening prayer and Hanson led the traditional Collect. Secretary Jamie LeBlanc gave a report, followed by a treasurer's report given by Ellen Pusey. Dottie Boudreaux said that the Bosom Buddy Bags would be presented possibly in May.
Sunshine committee chairman Cynthia Cummer wished a happy birthday for LeBlanc in April. Klein presented LeBlanc with a painting for the occasion. Margaret Bailey's birthday is in May. Horticulture and a breakfast tray floral exhibit were displayed by Bailey.
Thanks were extended to Wright and Hanson for donating items for the silent auction to be held at the LGCF Convention later this month. Gently worn shoes were collected for the Deep South Convention in New Orleans April 2023. The current slate of officers were re-elected to serve a second term due to the many meeting cancellations in the 2020-2022 term. A booklet acknowledging the Never Forget Rose Garden in Baton Rouge was passed around to show the Gardenettes' contribution to the memorial garden.
A list of shrubs and trees planted from the club year 2021-2022 was compiled for a national garden club project. Members planted 52 new additions to their garden that qualified. Membership chairman Pat Walsh ordered nametags for the new members. Also present but not previously mentioned were Karen Moran, Susan Pizani, Margaret Hardin, Sandy Cusick and Cricket Ayala.
The next meeting will be the May Installation Banquet at Salty Joe's. District VI Director Cynthia Moran from Baton Rouge, will conduct the ceremonies.
