NOVEMBER MEETING: Hostesses for the event are Ellen Pusey, Carol McGough and Margaret Hardin. The guest speaker is Mike Seal who will have for sale a number of cute bromeliad gifts and plants for your Christmas gift list. We eat sharply at 11:00 a.m. See you at the Strawberry Board building in Memorial Park!
OCTOBER MEETING: Thanks to Margaret Bailey, Rose Ann Husser and Cricket Ayala for being hostesses. The refreshments were good, the speaker interesting! Did everyone buy polymers?
GARDEN OF THE MONTH: Tara' and Rickey Umbach are the proud recipients of the Gardenettes October Garden of the Month. The Umbachs live at 39620 Dutch Lane. Their driveway entrance and home is beautifully landscaped with yellow Lantana, red Verbena, gardenias, begonias, Hibiscus, holly trees, and Little Gem magnolias, according to Margaret Bailey, club chairman. Following the presentation, members had wine and cheese at Carol McGough's - thanks Carol!

SHOES DRIVE: Lots more shoes were delivered by the Gardenettes thanks to Sunday Hanson on the final day of the drive. The Franklinton club brought 200 to the District VI Fall Meeting – wow! See picture of the chairman of the Deep South Convention with some of the shoes. When received, her husband put rubber bands around each pair and put them in the collection bags, 25 pair per bag. The drive exceeded 2,500 pairs!
DISTRICT VI FALL MEETING: This festive meeting was held at Juban Restaurant in Baton Rouge, featuring guest speaker, Dan Gill, and other entertainment. Sunday Hanson and Vicky Fannaly represented the Gardenettes!
Baton Rouge Flower Show & Tea – November 5-6 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Baton Rouge Garden Center. Admission is free. Come and go!
COVINGTON GARDEN CLUB STYLE SHOW November 10 – A fun event and fund raiser with good refreshments with lots of silent auction and raffle items. Some of our members went to the one on St. Patrick’s day. It is held in Madisonville at the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum.
2nd NORTHSHORE ART IN BLOOM April 28-30 – Held at Columbia Theater in Hammond. Floral competition entries start January 2. Show features a blown glass exhibit, art and flower vendors, lectures, one-act play staged performances. What’s not to like!
