MARCH MEETING 11 A.M.: Hostesses are Pat Walsh, Karen Moran, Betty Jordan and Cricket Ayala. Our guest speaker is Allen Owings, retired Hammond Research Director, now with Bracy's Nursery. His horticultural expertise is impressive! Come on time, we are starting at 11 sharp.
GARDEN OF THE MONTH: Former Councilwoman Margaret Hawkins and her husband Bill received honors for February. Margaret wrote us: Our boundless thanks to the Ponchatoula Gardenettes! Bill works so hard on our yard, mows and "weedeats' it frequently for most of the year. To receive an award at this time of year is truly exceptional. After Hurricane Ida, it is going to take years to get the west side of our yard beautiful and shady again. Strangely, the east side of the yard was barely damaged August 31. Thanks for seeing through the devastation and freeze and recognizing the beauty that is there.
