INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS
Vicky Fannaly was installed as president of the Gardenettes garden club. Other officers include vice president Pat Walsh, Recording Secretary Jamie LeBlanc, Corresponding Secretary Cynthia Cummer, Treasurer Ellen Pusey, Parliamentarian Marilyn Wright and Chaplain Kathy Bruce. All officer were elected to a second two year term.
District VI Director Cynthia Moran installed Gardenette officers at Salty Joe's BBQ Restaurant, Hammond, May 11. Moran from Baton Rouge Garden Club and the local club are members of Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc. and National Garden Clubs Inc.
President's Award to an outstanding member went to Marilyn Wright who served as Genesis and Garden of the Month chairman. Horticulture chairman Kathy Bruce gave each member a plant for participating in the club's monthly exhibits. A plant exchange and door prizes were distributed.
Sunday Hanson gave a report on the LGCF state convention. Margaret Bailey reported on her visit to local nurseries and showed some water storing crystals. Fannaly gave an overview on the speakers for the coming year.
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:
One thing I believe in is communication. Monthly newsletters are a good way to put all the things you might forget to mention at a meeting, out to the membership. Invitations to other club functions, dates SSLGCF events, all can be passed on to the club members to read at their leisure. I start with a calendar of coming attractions. I post it on the club website and email a link to all the members. Members can refer back at any time. I also share it on LGCF Deeds and Doings.
