MONTHLY MEETING: Held at the home of Vicky Fannaly with Sunday Hanson, Melly Singer and Virginia Hawkins hostesses. Come at 11 a.m. to serve up; the meeting begins at 11:30 on April 10. Speaker is Margaret Bailey who will provide an interesting program on Wildflowers and Flower Names.
NEW OFFICERS: Elected were President Susan Pizani, Vice President Marilyn Wright, Second Vice President Vicky Fannaly, Treasurer Ellen Pusey, Recording Secretary Jamie LeBlanc, Corresponding Secretary Cynthia Cummer, Parliamentarian Sunday Hanson, Chaplain Kathy Bruce. The nominating committee presented their recommendations and voting was conducted. Installation is in May.

GOING TO THE CASINO: Gardenettes headed to the LGCF Inc. State Convention at L'Auberge in Lake Charles are Marilyn Wright, Sunday Hanson, Susan Pizani and Vicky Fannaly. Besides the programs and banquets, we might come back rich! Yeah, you're right! Click here for the programs and registration.
COVINGTON FLOWER SHOW: Something to do after our monthly meeting. See invitation below for this fun event in Covington at Bogue Falaya Hall.
MADISONVILLE FLOWER SHOW: Club members enjoyed this event last year. Meredith Kettering from Madisonville Garden Club wrote “I'd like to invite you and all your friends to the Madisonville Garden Club's 70th Flower Show being held on April 17th from 1-3PM at the Maritime Museum Louisiana located at 133 Mabel Drive in Madisonville. Admission is free.”
MARCH MONTHLY MEETING: Hostesses Susan Pizani, Mary Hirsch and Karen Hotard decorated and served a lovely luncheon at the Strawberry Board Building. Guest Speaker Sunday Hanson provided some useful information on building up your soil. Genesis and Garden of the Month were announced.
GARDEN OF THE MONTH: Gardenettes presented March Garden of the Month award to Dawn and Manly Cazedessus, 215 North 6th Street, March 20. The lovely home shows off their well-maintained landscaping display with use of Loropetalum, Bridal wreath, camellias, Agapanthus, palmetto, and magnolia trees. The Cazedessus family, joined by Sammy, his golden retriever, welcomed garden club members Bailey, Marilyn Wright and Cricket Ayala.
GENESIS AWARD: Rene Roussel, Roussel’s Fine Jewelry and Gifts, 177 W. Pine St., accepted the Genesis Award for commercial displays from the Gardenettes. Roussel’s was selected for helping maintain the beauty of downtown Ponchatoula. The display windows feature beautiful butterfly and floral art created by author and illustrator Ariane Trammell.
