INSTALLATION BANQUET: 80th Installation Banquet will be held at Salty Joe’s on Range Road, 11:30 a.m. May 11. Sixth District Director Cindy Moran will be conducting the ceremonies. Friends are welcome, just be sure to RSVP for them so we have enough seats.

PLANNING MEETING – We need to make arrangements for the February Joint Parish Meeting. We will be meeting at a restaurant for lunch. We already have the Knights of Columbus Hall and a speaker pending the group’s approval. We need to make the rest of the plans. This is a lunch meeting. Recommendations for the restaurant can be discussed at the installation banquet.
STATE CONVENTION: Representing the Gardenettes at the Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc. Convention were Vicky Fannaly (standing) and Sunday Hanson (seated). The club received five state and one Deep South Garden Club Inc. awards at the Baton Rouge event April 25-27. The auction items we sent brought $130 - special thanks for Sunday Hanson's iris print!
GARDEN OF THE MONTH - Sharon and Wayne Melancon received April Garden of the Month honors from the Gardenettes chairman Marilyn Wright, Betty Jordan and Vicky Fannaly. "The Melancon's beautiful garden is bright with a circle of rose bushes planted by Wayne Melancon as a surprise for his wife. Ferns add a tranquil accent suggesting a cool haven in the heat of the summer. This well-maintained garden is very attractive and welcoming," according to Wright.
APRIL MEETING: Retired county agent, Annie Coco, gave a plant quiz at the April 13 Gardenette meeting held at the home of president Vicky Fannaly. Showing specimens from her yard, Coco gave prizes for the most correct answers.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: Gardenette Betty Jordan met with Allison Blache who is a seventh grade Social Studies teacher at Ponchatoula Jr. High on April 14. She was very happy to have the Box Tops and Community coffee coupons, according to Jordan
