NATIONAL GARDEN WEEK: This annual event, June 4-10, will be commemorated with root-able plant cuttings from members gardens, placed in the Ponchatoula Library “free to a good home.” Chairman Sunday Hanson has commitments from members for this event. It is hoped that it will encourage or support a love of gardening in those who receive the plants.
PRESIDENTS MEETING: Held at Middendorf’s Friday June 16 is a good place to meet other garden club members. This is a dutch treat lunch, so all are invited. Marilyn Wright and Vicky Fannaly have room in their cars to drive you if you wish to attend.
MAY MEETING: The awards banquet was held at Murphy’s Steak & Seafood in Hammond. Dr. Allen Owings talked about care and types of roses! President’s Award went to Mary Hirsch with honors to those who helped with her auction items in February. They included Jamie LeBlanc, Sunday Hanson and Margaret Bailey. Madagascar marigolds were given to all club members in attendance.
