FEBRUARY JOINT MEETING: Stem and Stamen Garden Club will be hosting the February 9 joint meeting at the Arena in Amite. CARPOOL leaving from the Ponchatoula Community Center at 9:30 a.m. Vicky Fannaly has room for two more in her car. If you can drive, let us know how many you can take. We will be going to the Florida Parishes Arena and Event Center, 1301 NW Central, Amite. Those who RSVP'ed yes are listed above. Added to that is Cynthia Cummer. If you need to re-think, let me know so I can notify Stem and Stamen Garden Club. State President Roxanna Champagne and District VI Director Cindy Moran will be there! Kyle Martin, too!

GARDEN OF THE MONTH: Following the meeting, Members toured the newest honoree. Vera Dunbar, 285 NWRR Avenue, was awarded January 2022 Garden of the Month honors by the Gardenettes, January 12. Dunbar received this award many years ago for her horticultural efforts.
ARBOR DAY: Members gathered at City Hall Annex to plant an oak tree in honor of Arbor Day, January 24. Susan Pizani, chairman, conducted the ceremonies. Thanks to Tillman Pizani and Louis LeBlanc for their support! Lunch afterward was at La Caretta's.
CONDOLENCES: Marilyn Wright lost her youngest sister January 23. Please remember Marilyn and her family in your prayers.
WAYS AND MEANS: Since we voted to donate a third of our funds to charity, we will be needing some fund raising in the coming year. Also we are responsible for a silent auction donation for the April state convention hosted by our District VI in Baton Rouge. If you have anything to offer for a gift basket or whatever, let me know. Sunday Hanson has a Carmel Foret print to offer. Carmel was a past member of our club and made lovely garden watercolors.

COMING IN OCTOBER! Our guest speaker will be showing how to make succulent wreaths. She also has polymers to add to your soil and help keep the planting mix moist! Yvette Cutrer speaking about Living Wreaths and a substance called polymers that are used to plant in ground, in pots and in Living Wreaths that make it half the work, you get healthier, greener plants and reduce watering 30 to 50%.
