Rene Roussel, Roussel’s Fine Jewelry and Gifts, 177 W. Pine St., accepted the Genesis Award for commercial displays from the Gardenettes. A Ponchatoula garden club, the group is a member of District VI, Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc. and National Garden Clubs Inc.
“Roussel’s was selected for helping maintain the beauty of downtown Ponchatoula. The display windows feature beautiful butterfly and floral art created by author and illustrator Ariane Trammell, according to Cricket Ayala, garden club chairman.

The Oaks Wedding & Event Center
January 31, 2023
The Oaks Wedding and Event Center, 18444 Hwy. 22 East, received the Gardenettes January-February Genesis Award for their landscaping. Accepting the honor January 31 for the Center were Donald Jones and Missy Hammack.
Landscaping is maintained by Katie Albert. Garden club members present included chairman Cricket Ayala, Margaret Bailey, Susan Pizani and Vicky Fannaly. The club is a member of District VI, Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc. and National Garden Clubs Inc.
According to Ayala, beautiful oak trees drawith moss and dazzling lights are the focus in the garden of the Center. Magnolia trees, roses, azaleas, Chinese privet, bamboo, Japanese Pittosporum and Indian hawthorn are just a part of the landscaping features of this lovely event venue.
