Ponchatoula High School Classes
The Gardenettes presented the Genesis award for March / April to the Ponchatoula High School classes of Glenda Dufreche and Tony Burns. These special needs students made a major impact on the beautification of Ponchatoula by installing and planting 50 "woolly-pocket planters" on our alligator cage. They also raised these plants in the Agri science program at PHS. The students started with beautiful pansies and have now added strawberries to the containers just in time for the Strawberry Festival
The opportunity for this project was provided through a grant from the Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation Service Learning Program. We look forward to the continued beautification accomplished by these students and their teachers, according to Margaret Bailey, Gardenette chairman.
