Harry McKneely Funeral Home owner Lance Vicknair received Gardenettes Genesis Award for the landscaping at his Ponchatoula location. Presented by Genesis chairman Marilyn Wright, the plaque is for the months of December 2021 and January 2022.
Sasanqua camellias blooming in the beds, lend a bright contrast to the variegated liriope borders. Permanent plantings of rose bushes have been cut back for the winter but are still visible in the well maintained planting areas, said Wright.
Assisting her in the presentation were Gardenettes, Jamie LeBlanc, Margaret Hardin, Vicky Fannaly, Kathy Bruce, Betty Jordan and Dottie Boudreaux. The club is a member of District VI Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc. and National Garden Clubs Inc.

Genesis Award for commercial landscaping was given to the City of Ponchatoula for its parking lot located at the corner of N. Sixth St. and W. Hickory, according to Marilyn Wright, Gardenette chairman. Accepting for the City were Mayor Bob Zabbia and Rhonda Sheridan.
Formerly the site of First Guaranty Bank, the area now features a 90 space parking lot surrounded by brick and ironwork fencing. Planted with Magnolia trees and colorful bedding plants. There are benches strategically placed for all to enjoy. A charging station for electric vehicles is another feature of the lot.
The opposite side of the street is similarly landscaped, making the block a very attractive place for the city hall and police department, said Wright. Gardenettes are members of District VI Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc. and National Garden Clubs.

Collinswood Museum was awarded the Genesis Award for commercial landscaping for their well planted grounds by the Gardenettes, April 8. Receiving the award for April-May were museum board members Lark and Vincent Thibodaux and Jim Perrin.
Marilyn Wright, Gardenette Genesis chairman, said that the museum was selected because of the colorful flower beds and well maintained grounds. A focal point of the Ponchatoula downtown area, the museum houses the USS Ponchatoula artifacts.
Gardenettes are members of District VI Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc., and National Garden Clubs Inc.
Located on property donated by Andrew M. Edwards II to the city of Ponchatoula for use as a museum and park on December 28, 1995, the property has evolved over the years into a serene area in the heart of town for residents and tourists to enjoy. The club was pleased to honor the members of the museum who work so hard to keep the this beauty spot for all to enjoy, Wright said.
