Emanuel and Pat Bourgeois maintain this property with beautiful landscaped flower beds accented with Nandina, azaleas, Indian Hawthorn, Agapanthus, and Daylilies. There are mature crype myrtles, Bradford pears,Robin holly and sweet olives.

Tara' and Rickey Umbach are the proud recipients of the Gardenettes October Garden of the Month. The Umbachs live at 39620 Dutch Lane. Their driveway entrance and home is beautifully landscaped with yellow Lantana, red Verbena, gardenias, begonias, Hibiscus, holly trees, and Little Gem magnolias, according to Margaret Bailey, club chairman.
Presenting the award are Carol McGough, Ellen Pusey, Bailey, Sandy Cusick, and Marilyn Wright. Pictures were taken by Cricket Ayala. The Gardenettes are members of District VI, Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc., and National Garden Clubs Inc. This award is given to homeowners that beautify Ponchatoula by doing the gardening themselves.

Wes and Carlene Ott of 22308 HWY 22E are the proud recipients of the Gardenettes September Garden of the Month. The award was presented September 9.
According to Margaret Bailey, club chairman: "The first thing you notice are the beautifully sculptured shrubs in the yard. The beds around the home are filled with trimmed shrubs as well as edged with monkey grass enhanced with roses, Lantana, day lilies, potato vines, and chrysanthemums. There is a potting shed, seating area, bottle trees and American flags that add interest to this yard."

The newly renovated Miller home at 301 North 7th Street received the August Garden of the Month from the Gardenettes. Owners Amanda and Jerry Miller Jr. received the award from Margaret Bailey, garden club chairman.
Amanda Miller took on the task of "renovating" the landscaping. The house is surrounded by flower beds that are full of colorful flowers: caladiums, cannas, ornamental grasses, potato vines, Lantana, Verbena, Gladiolus, begonias, Liriope and a row of yellow roses to name a few. She bought some of the plants, kept some of the original shrubs such as the sweet olive and angel trumpets and transplanted plants from her mother's and grandmother's gardens.

The Gardenettes Garden of the Month for July was awarded to Dwayne Clause at 530 East Beech Street.
According to Margaret Bailey, club chairman, Clause has planted beautiful caladiums across the front of the house. These are flanked by cannas in one corner and azaleas on the other side. He has a porch that offers him a cool retreat behind pots of variegated Schefflera, ferns, and palms and hanging baskets of Begonia.
Gardenettes are a Ponchatoula garden club and are members of District VI Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc. and members of the Deep South Garden Clubs Inc. and National Garden Clubs Inc.

The landscaping is maintained by John. The front flower beds are outlined with boxwoods and filled with groupings of various shrubs and flowering plants. There are accents of Magnolia, sweet olive, variegated Japanese maple, crepe myrtle and Bradford pear trees. There are garden features peeking out from the lush plantings, according to Margaret Bailey, club chairman.

Sharon and Wayne Melancon received April Garden of the Month honors from the Gardenettes chairman Marilyn Wright. The club is a member of District VI, Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc., and National Garden Clubs Inc.
"The Melancon's beautiful garden is bright with a circle of rose bushes planted by Wayne Melancon as a surprise for his wife. Ferns add a tranquil accent suggesting a cool haven in the heat of the summer. This well maintained garden is very attractive and welcoming," according to Wright.

Vera Dunbar, 285 NWRR Avenue, was awarded January 2022 Garden of the Month honors by the Gardenettes, January 12. Dunbar received this award many years ago for her horticultural efforts.

She was assisted by her committee members Rose Ann Husser and Margaret Bailey, and Gardenettes Margaret Hardin, Vicky Fannaly, Ellen Pusey and Joan Morse.
