National Garden Week June 4-10, 2023
Donating Gardening Book - Saturday June 3, 2023
NATIONAL GARDEN WEEK: This annual event, June 4-10, will be commemorated with root-able plant cuttings from members gardens, placed in the Ponchatoula Library “free to a good home.” Chairman Sunday Hanson has commitments from members for this event. It is hoped that it will encourage or support a love of gardening in those who receive the plants. Gardenettes are members of District VI Louisiana Garden Clubs Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc., National Garden Clubs Inc.
By calling attention to gardening, it is hoped that the community will be encouraged to be more aware of picking up litter and planting an attractive haven around our homes, she said.
Gardenetttes are joining the national group in celebrating the objectives of beautification, education of environmental efforts, gardening and involvement with the community.

Free Plants! for National Garden Week - June 4, 2023
Offering Free Plants in Ponchatoula Library - The proclamation for National Garden Week with the National Garden Club Inc. logo and Gardenette logo was displayed along with Gardenette banners on both sides of the table. All plants were labeled with common and scientific names with copies of the care instructions for each plant. Promoted as part of the National Garden Clubs Inc. (NGC Inc.) "Plant America" project, The Saved Seed is a new youth book written to engage young children in the life cycle of a pumpkin seed. It is described as "Beautifully illustrated and written by Brenda Moore, the Saved Seed will provide educators and clubs working with children a magnificent tool to introduce the joys of gardening." by the NGC Inc.
