Susan Pizani was installed as president of the Gardenettes at Murphy's Seafood and Steak, in Hammond May 8. District VI Director Donna Moran conducted the ceremony.
Joining her were vice president Marilyn Wright; second vice president Vicky Fannaly; recording secretary Jamie LeBlanc; corresponding secretary Cynthia Cummer; treasurer Ellen Pusey; parliamentarian Sunday Hanson; chaplain Kathy Bruce.
The garden club belongs to District VI Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc., National Garden Clubs Inc.
Outgoing president Fannaly selected Karen Hotard, Bosom Buddy Bag committee, as outstanding chairman. Hotard received an award. Horticultue and Exhibits chairman, Bruce, honored the club members who participated in the monthly. Members brought plants decorated with live flowers to be exchanged to the May meeting.
Preparations for National Garden Week, June 2-8, 2024, were outlined by Hanson. She intends to repeat last year's plant starters give-away at the Ponchatoula Library during that period. She plans to have new plants each day.
Mary Hirsch conducted the 50/50 raffle and plant exchange. Virginia Hawkins led the blessing. May birthdays included Margaret Bailey and Rose Husser. Bailey and Cricket Ayala announced the upcoming Garden of the Month and Genesis award winners.
