Keep Louisiana Beautiful's first annual Love Our Waterways is happening throughout September! Every person in every parish is invited to help protect Louisiana's 14,400 miles of waterways by participating in a shoreline, bayou, lake, river, or storm drain cleanup.

Hummingbird Celebration - Hammond Res. Station Sept 19

We are once again partnering with the LSU Ag Center research station in Hammond to celebrate Ruby-throated hummingbird migration. This event will take place on Sept 19, 2026 at the Research Station (21549 Old Covington Highway, Hammond) from 7:00am to 12 noon. There is no charge to attend. The event will feature:

At this convention, our District VI member Kyle Martin will be installed as Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc. President - a great honor for all of us. We will be celebrating by hosting a reception in her honor. Please plan to attend to show our pride and support! It will be twelve more years before District VI will have another State President.

Here we go again !!! Course 3!!! Series 21. With this course, students seeking Consultant credit will bring an accurately measured drawing of a small area of their landscape that they would like to redesign or be given an alternate plan and fact scenario in class. Plan might include size, requirements, desired plants, restrictions and conditions of the site. The plan could belong to a neighbor or a friend.

In Memoriam - Margo Racca, LGCF President 2003-2005

Our Federation mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders, Margo Racca, who faithfully served as president from 2003–2005. Margo was not only a trusted voice of insight and sharp wit, but also a true friend to me and to countless others. Her absence leaves a profound void, and she will be deeply missed.

Peggy Martin Rose Named State Rose

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Legislature has proclaimed the Peggy Martin Rose as the official state rose through the passage of Senate Concurrent Resolution 55 (SCR 55), authored by Senator Patrick Connick and co-sponsored by Representatives Braud, Echols, Freeman, Lacombe, and Wyble.The proclamation recognizes a flower that has become a powerful symbol of resilience, perseverance, and renewal for Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.
Known throughout the gardening world for its remarkable ability to survive extreme conditions, the Peggy Martin Rose traces its roots to Plaquemines Parish and longtime resident |
Peggy Martin. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when catastrophic flooding submerged homes and landscapes beneath as much as 30 feet of water, a rose growing alongside Martin's tractor shed survived more than two weeks underwater. While much of the surrounding area was devastated, the rose endured, becoming a symbol of hope and recovery for communities rebuilding after the historic storm.

Garden of the Month - Betty Husser’s home is a Garden Home. Her landscaping is unique because it showcases that one can achieve a fully landscaped garden on a small lot.
Bogalusa Garden Club
Washington Parish flower clubs attended a class to make prominent color arrangements for fair competition. Susan McNeese, used dried material and fresh plants. Also, how the backdrop color makes the flowers pop.

Plaquemine Garden Club

The Plaquemine Garden Club has chosen the yard of Ms. Lorraine Hidalgo for its August Garden of the Month. Ms. Hidalgo’s yard is filled with many varieties of plants in many plant groupings throughout her yard. Surrounding her mailbox, across the front of her house, and on the side of her house are several groupings of colorful plants and greenery.
